How It Works
Candidate Experience
What candidates see and experience when using ScoutUp.ai.
Receiving an Invitation
Candidates receive either an SMS or email (depending on how you invite them) containing:
- The job title and company name
- Your custom message
- A link to start their interview
The link is unique to each candidate and doesn't expire.
The Landing Page
When candidates click the link, they see a page with:
- Your company logo (if uploaded)
- The job title
- Information about what to expect
- A "Start Interview" button
- Consent information about call recording
Starting the Interview
When they click "Start Interview":
- They're shown a confirmation that the call is being placed
- Their phone rings within 5-10 seconds
- They answer and the interview begins
During the Call
The AI interviewer:
- Speaks naturally and conversationally
- Listens to full responses before continuing
- Asks follow-up questions when appropriate
- Handles pauses and "umms" gracefully
- Stays patient if candidates need time to think
What Candidates Can Do
- Ask to repeat: "Can you repeat that question?" - The AI will repeat
- Ask for clarification: "What do you mean by that?" - The AI explains
- Ask questions: If enabled, they can ask about the role at the end
- End early: They can hang up at any time (marked as abandoned)
After the Interview
The call simply ends. Candidates don't need to do anything else. They should:
- Wait to hear back based on your end-of-interview message
- Not expect immediate feedback (unless you've set that up)
Public Applications
For candidates using the public application link:
- They enter their name, email, and phone number
- They click to start the interview
- Their phone rings
- After completing, they see a confirmation page
- They may receive confirmation SMS/email if you've enabled it
Common Candidate Questions
"Is this a real person?"
The AI identifies itself as an AI interviewer in the greeting. It doesn't pretend to be human.
"Can I reschedule?"
Candidates can complete the interview anytime using their link. There's no fixed schedule - they start when they're ready.
"What if I lose connection?"
If the call drops, the interview is marked as incomplete. You can send a new invitation if needed.
"Is the call recorded?"
Yes. The landing page informs candidates that calls are recorded for assessment purposes.
